Victory of Good Over Evil

 Happy Dussehra Dear Friends

Dussehra is one of the festivals that I really look forward to.

My mom shows curd (plain yogurt) and a silver coin, that is to be seen first thing when we open eyes in the morning. This is considered , auspicious.for a good start.

Then papa puts a red sacred thread , mauli on a knife and place it on the Ramayana like this

and then mom gives us a Ladoo with curd as prasad. This year we did not buy ladoo's from the market but prepared them at home.

As a kid I remember My Nana used to take us all to see Ravan dahan.Effigies of Ravana along with Meghnada (Ravana’s son) and Kumbhkarana (Ravana’s brother) are stuffed with firecrackers and set ablaze at night in an open area.My parents bought me a sword made with cardboard or bow and arrow. We used to leave very early so that we could get the best spot but by the time of burning the effigies the area was jam packed and i was unable to see so i used to climb on to my moms lap and when not visible from there too then they made me sit on the top of the car roof.It was the best spot in all terms. My special seat.It was so much fun and afterwards we used to eat samosa's and jalebi.
There is an old saying that Lord Rama loved sweets like Sasakuli, which is now called Jalebi. This is the reason that people celebrate by eating Jalebi after burning Ravana.

Dussehra or Vijayadashami is an important Hindu festival which signifies the victory of good over evil.
I hope and wish that this Dussehra ends negativity and evil within us (biases, prejudices, stereotypes) and marks a fresh new beginning.

Manifest

 Hello Friends,
Hope you are taking care and enjoying the new normal of 2020.

We humans are always complaining. There was a time when we were so busy in our lives before Covid that taking out time for oneself was almost impossible. This is because something beyond control has been influencing our life, and you just weren't aware of it.The biggest stress was to manage time. Then time came we had so much of time that it was difficult to think what to do with it. Well, the good news is we are slowly but steadily getting back to our routines.

No, Covid issue is still lingering but many of us have learnt to move forward in our lives.

Everything happens for a reason so think of the positive side.2020 is an excellent year to explore your emotional side. Take the time to learn about yourself.Being able to understand and love yourself forms a great foundation for beginning new relationships.Be calm and think rationally.Even though this year may seem unfavorable for you, it's not the end.

We all learned something or the other. We are more self reliant now.Doing our daily chores.Paying more attention to what we eat.Being healthy is top priority. We learned a new hobby or learned a new skill.

I baked new dishes and tried new recipes.Watched a number of movies and web series with my family.

Do share what you did during these times. One such web series which glued me to it is Manifest on Amazon Prime. The story goes like this - A plane inexplicably disappears on a trans-oceanic flight and returns five years later after being presumed lost at sea. While no time has passed for those on the flight, years have gone by for their loved ones who have learned to live with their loss. In addition to the outward mystery of what happened on that flight, there’s also an inward mystery of what has happened to the passengers…and why. Well, no I am not going to tell more details. You need to check it out yourself.I wont be the spoiler. Each episode is full of suspense and drama.I am looking forward to the Season 3 which might be out in Jan 2021.

Starring - Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, J.R. Ramirez

Highly recommend watching Manifest. Its captivating and would have you interested.Definitely worth binge‑watching.
