Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon

This pandemic has given us all the most precious thing in life that is time.We should all utilize it to the best. When things will get back to normal (which many think would be never, but I am hopeful) we will remember these golden days and moments.I am not a movie buff but I am watching all the latest flicks and web series and surprisingly few are thought provoking and engrossing.Movies are the mirrors to society's mind.

One such movie which has left a great impact on me is Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon. The story plot was predictable. The actor and actress not my favourite. But still somehow I enjoy watching this movie again and again. It was released in 1963 many years before I was born. When I was a small kid around 30 years ago it was shown in Savitri Cinema hall(Name changed now) only for one day as special screening, it was the time of single screening.I saw this movie for the first time and to my surprise the hall was jam packed, house full.I fell in love with the movie. The dialogues such as " Agar Koi Intzar Karne Wala Hota to Kaya Aap Aate?" portrays simple yet powerful Love which are seen rarely in today's cinema.

No doubt Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon in 1963 was among the first 5 highest grossers. This was Nasir Hussain's second production (his first in colour).

The movie has everything Romance,Action,Suspense and Comedy (Difu, the cake scene was hilarious).

The most striking thing which makes this movie evergreen is the song - Lakhon Hai Nigah Mein.
A well loved song which linger’s in the memory of fans all these years.
The song was Shot at Nishat Bagh and Dal Lake, Srinagar.

Lyrics:

Lakhon hain nigaah mein,
Zindagi ki raah mein
Sanam haseen jawaan
Hotoh pe gulab hai,
Aankhon mein sharab hai
Lekin wo baat kahaan

Lat hai kisi ki jaadu ka jaal
Rang daale dil pe kisi ka jamaal
Tauba ye nigahen, ke rokti hain rahen
Dekho le-le ke teer kamaan

Janu na deewana main dil ka
Kaun hai khayalon ki malika
Bheegi-bheegi rut ki chhaon tale
Maan lo kahin wo aan mile
Kaise pehchanu, ke naam nahi jaanu
Kise dhunde mere armaan

Kabhi-kabhi wo ek mahajabin
Dolti hai dil ke paas kahin
Ke hain jo yahi baatein
To hongi mulaqatein
Kabhi wahan nahi to yahaan
Lakhon hain nigah mein

Joy Mukherjee looked handsome. The beautiful locations of Kashmir are a treat to watch. He walks leisurely holding a guitar over his shoulder like an ideal lover.
